Selling cookies is a great way for Girl Scout troops to raise money for activities and develop important life skills—goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics—that will set them up for success beyond anything they can imagine. It's also a great way to give back to the community, which is just what Brownie Troop #40385 did.
Through this year's cookie sale, the girls donated over 170 boxes
of cookies to Bridges, a local organization that helps the homeless in Newark,
Irvington and NYC.
The leaders had their girls take a vote at a meeting in January of where they should donate the cookies. The options for donated cookies we gave them were SAGE Elder Care, Summit Supports our Troops, and Bridges that provides donations to homeless in Newark, Irvington, and NYC. Bridges won the vote because our girls felt that “our cookies would be appreciated by the homeless and make them smile.”
Great job ladies!
