30 Days of Good Deeds: Troop 40196 Bakes Bread for Cranford Family Care

It's day three of our 30 Days of Good Deeds and we are truly amazed by the community service that our Girl Scouts take part in. Keep reading to hear about a Troop who dedicated time to helping an organization in their hometown of Cranford.

In December, ten fifth grade Juniors from Troop #40196 at Orange Avenue School in Cranford spent an afternoon putting their culinary skills to the test. They worked together to bake cranberry bread for Cranford Family Care.

Cranford Family Care provides assistance to families in need and offers everything from basic necessities like food and clothing to emergency services such as paying rent and utilities. The organization started during the Great Depression and they will be celebrating their 80th year of service this coming August!

The girls had a ton of fun learning how to bake bread and in the end, they were able to deliver fifteen loaves, which were distributed to local families for the holidays.

We are collecting stories to be featured on our blog in a countdown to Girl Scouts’ Birthday. Our 30 Days of Good Deeds will start on February 11th and end on March 11th. Is your Troop doing something amazing? Do you know a Girl Scout who is making a change in her community? Fill out this easy form to submit your Good Deed!
