30 Days of Good Deeds: Troop #81176 Coordinated a Diaper and Food Drive
Remember Troop #10901 who donated to the first baby girl born on October 31st at Jersey City Medical Center? Troop #81176 (pictured above) also wanted to give back to the littlest citizens in their community. Keep reading to learn all about their service project to benefit babies!
Troop #81176 coordinated a Diaper and Food drive to benefit the United Way Diaper Bank and the Flemington Area Food Pantry. The girls chose this project during their discussion of making a difference in our community at their October meeting and wanted to do so in honor of Juliette Gordon Low's birthday.
The girls prepared collection bins, distributed flyers, and collected donated baby items from family and friends. The Girl Scouts also had a drop-off event during their local Thanksgiving Day 5K Race. Their culminating activity was to drop off the items collected at the Volunteer Center for United Way in Flemington and the Flemington Area Food Pantry.
Both organizations graciously offered tours of their facilities so that the girls could learn more about what they do and discussed the need for donation services in the community.
We are still collecting stories for our 30 Days of Good Deeds! Is your Troop doing something amazing? Do you know a Girl Scout who is making a change in her community? Fill out this easy form to submit your Good Deed!
