On Monday, May 9th, 10 girls from the four New Jersey Girl Scout Councils—Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey, Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore, Girl Scouts of Central & Southern New Jersey, and Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey—got the chance to be involved in a round-table discussion with Senator Cory Booker!
The girls spent an hour speaking about their Gold Award projects with Senator Booker and explained what they have been able to accomplish during their time as Girl Scouts. Senator Booker was impressed by the girls' ability to be able to accomplish their goals, offered solid advice on staying focused, and encouraged them to continue making a change in their community.
The girls were able to teach Senator Booker all about the Girl Scout Gold Award, and he now has a solid understanding of just what goes into these projects and the steps that Girl Scouts need to take to be able to call themselves a Gold Awardee.
