Brownie Troop Participates in TOMS World Sight Day

Brownie Troop #20110 reading to animals in a shelter for TOMS World Sight Day.
On October 8th, TOMS encouraged Girl Scouts all over the country to take part in World Sight Day, and Brownie Troop #20110 jumped right in!

World Sight Day was celebrated to bring awareness to blindness and other visual impairments as well as to educate people about the how vision loss affects daily life.

The girls in Troop #20110 decided to visit animals in the Montclair Animal Shelter to take part in a newly-implemented reading program. Wearing their paper glasses that they downloaded and decorated, the girls spent time reading to the animals and donated books to the shelter's beginning library.

Troop leaders Peggy and Lauren spoke with the girls about the glasses donation program lead by TOMS and how proper vision care is hard to come by for the less fortunate. The Brownies earned their "Pets" Badge and complimentary "Fun" patches courtesy of TOMS.

Thanks for participating Troop #20110!
