Junior Girl Scouts Earn Prestigious Bronze Award for Community Service Project

Girls can do anything when they put their minds to it!

All ten applicants from the North Plainfield Girl Scout Troop #65255 earned their Bronze Award - the highest award a Girl Scout Junior can earn - by completing their "We Care" project. Through 20 hours of community service (and months of preparation to complete!), the girls put together "We Care" kits - bags of necessary items for those who need help affording them. The kits included household products like dental floss, toothpaste, soap, mouthwash and other personal items.

With the help of donations from friends, families, churches, schools, and local businesses, the girls were able to deliver their kits to those in need at the Lighthouse Food Ministry - a food bank that serves over 120 families in the greater North Plainfield community.

Their community service didn't stop there; the troop also collected and organized supplies to benefit school children in Africa as part of the "Take Action" phase of the Agent of Change Journey. Impressive!

We are so very proud of you girls. Keep up the phenomenal work!
