Camp is Coming... Are You READY?

Camp is more than a word... it’s an experience. It’s the sounds of girls singing as you hike through the woods, or watching the shiest girl in your group lead the entire camp in a campfire sing-along. It’s meeting a girl from the other side of the state the first day of camp and 10 years later you still pick the same programs to attend so you can catch up. Camp is an experience that helps you grow.

The main goal of our Girl Scout camps is to create a fun, safe, environment for girls. They are encouraged to try new activities, make new friends, and step out of their comfort zone in a physically and emotionally safe and supported environment.  All programs at camp are designed with intentional learning and purpose, but with a fun camp-like twist. This year, we focused on programs that specialize in STEM, Art, and Financial Literacy. We want to set girls up with skills that will help them all year round. Our programs are designed to help decrease summer learning loss, but we deliver them in such a way that campers don’t outwardly realize they're learning--it doesn't feel like they're in school! We like to balance our intentional learning programs by letting the girls choose what they want to do while they're at camp. This teaches them life skills and allows them to develop a sense of independence.

One of the best things our camps encourage is the cell phone free rule. At first that sounds horrible… how is anyone expected to last without a cell phone?! It scares us, too, but soon enough the girls realize that their cell phone would never survive at camp.

Between hiking, boating, water play and constantly moving around, our campers have no time to worry about missing their phone. But this rule doesn't apply to just the campers -- our staff go cell phone free, too! In a world so consumed by cell phones and the need to be in-the-know, camp is a little piece of nirvana. It creates an environment for the girls to reconnect with themselves, the environment, and others.

A summer at camp will be one the best summers you will ever have! Not only do you have the best stories to share when you get back to school in September, but our campers have the opportunity to make new friends and take part in new experiences.

Come spend a week sleeping away at Camp Hoover, swimming or boating in the lake, team-building on the low ropes course, and eating in a traditional camp mess hall. If you aren't ready to spend the night, The OVAL (our day camp) has tons to offer with weekly trips, hiking, cookouts, and brand new programs.

What are you waiting for? We have a ton of fun planned for this summer. Register today!
