We are excited to announce the success of our first ever live chat!
For those who are not aware, our training department is now hosting monthly live chats. Live chats allow volunteers to
experience brief 15-20 minute overviews about the month’s topic--picked by our training team and by you, our members and volunteers! Participants are encouraged to keep the conversation going and share helpful tips and ideas with fellow volunteers and leaders throughout our council jurisdiction. Our goal is to promote positive interaction between our volunteers and to encourage networking opportunities as well as advice.
On Tuesday, January 12th, our training department hosted its first ever live chat. The topic? Special Days in Girl Scouts, which
include World Thinking Day, Girl Scout Week, Girl Scout Birthday, Leader
Appreciation Day, and Founders Day. Throughout the evening’s chat,
leaders received clarifications on the holidays, tips on how to get parental
involvement for events, and even shared their troop’s traditions and
experiences.
For example, one leader suggested a “Wear Your Pearls Out” event in celebration of Founder’s Day, while another suggested a “Leader’s Night Out” for Leader Appreciation Day.

If you missed this month’s chat, don't fret! We're planning more live chats with new, exciting and diverse topics. All live chats begin at 7:00 p.m. and last for as
long as the conversations continue. Also, keep in mind that training is
accepting topic ideas as well! We'd love to hear what you want to talk about! Please contact training@gshnj.org to submit your
suggestions.
