Feature Troop Leaders: Cadette Troop Leaders, Jennifer & Meredith

What happens when two neighbors meet for coffee and one says, “Would you do Girl Scouts with me?” The result – making memories that last for years. Learn more about two dedicated Cadette Troop leaders and how they fit Girl Scouts into their busy lives!

Jennifer Pine and Meredith Eaton are Cadette Troop leaders in Glen Ridge, beginning their troop when their daughters were both in Kindergarten. They immerse themselves in Girls Scouts, invest in the girls, and help build courage, confidence and character, all while introducing the girls to new experiences. As a result, their troop loves cooking, camping and the outdoors, and the opportunity to explore and take trips out of town.

Their strategy has been summer planning and finding new things for the girls to experience. Their biggest reward, “watching the girls grow up”, discovering-connecting-and taking action; being witness to the life skills that “’girlhood” has produced. Jennifer and Meredith really appreciate the traditional Girl Scout adventures of camping, the outdoors and community service. Jennifer stated that because of the Girl Scout brand, destinations and attractions are more responsive and generous with their offerings. They want to attract Girl Scouts to visit and have a great time; it’s a win-win.

As for their busy lives, both have families and very active schedules. Time management is key, and both say “ask for help" when they need to get things done. They are appreciative of troop families being wonderfully supportive when asked for time, items and assistance.

Both Meredith and Jennifer are resources to their service unit and other troops in town. Truly dedicated women who live the Girl Scout mission every day.
