In Case You Missed It: Girl Scouts in the News

Our Girl Scouts amaze us every day. From the projects they complete for their highest awards to their willingness to give back through community service, Girl Scouts are some of the most inspirational and driven young women we know.

March 16, 2016: Fanwood Police Buy 250 Boxes of Cookies

It takes a lot of courage and grit to hit the pavement selling Girl Scout cookies, which is why we were disappointed when we heard that someone was reacting negatively to the girls. The proceeds that the girls raise go to their troop and to their experience as a Girl Scout. When girls participate in the Girl Scout Cookie Program, they develop important life skills—goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics—that will set them up for success beyond anything they can imagine.

Kudos to the Fanwood Police Department who realized the girls' goals and who supported them by purchasing 250 boxes of cookies! Thank you for being great role models and lifting the girls' spirits!

March 20, 2016: Bridgewater Girl Scouts Earn Honored by Senator Menendez

The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award a Girl Scout can earn. It takes rigorous planning and around 80 hours to complete start to finish. Danielle and Ritu, Ambassador Scouts from Bridgewater-Raritan Girl Scout Troop #61254 were recognized for their accomplishments on March 6th at Sen. Robert Menendez' Women's History Month Celebration at Montclair State University.

While Ritu focused on planning and conducting presentations on anti-bulling and philanthropy, Danielle conducted a new and used sports equipment drive called "Clear Your Gear" and held a sports clinic where she emphasized the importance of wearing a helmet.
