Girl Scouts Take Part in Lincoln Tunnel Challenge 5K
This past weekend, Girl Scouts from Troop #12881 (along with our CEO, Pat Carroll!) took part in the annual Lincoln Tunnel Challenge 5K to support Special Olympics New Jersey!
Each year, The Port Authority of NY/NJ closes the South Tube the night before the race and continue working throughout the night and throughout the race to ventilate clean air in and out of the tunnel every 90 seconds. The road is de-greased and vehicles are not permitted in the tunnel until the race is over. Over 3,000 people participated and helped raise money for the cause!
This year held a bit more weight, as it was the 30th anniversary of the event. All participants were presented with a 30th anniversary commemorative Lincoln penny key chain upon completion of the race.
