30 Days of Good Deeds: Troop #10910 Donates to Jersey City Medical Center
As Girl Scouts, we all choose to celebrate our founder's birthday in different ways. Whether you do a community service project or have a birthday party, celebrating Juliette Gordon Low on October 31st is a fun way to remember her legacy. For day 6 of our 30 Days of Good Deeds, we're focusing on a Daisy Troop who decided to celebrate JGL's birthday by donating to the first baby to be born on October 31st at Jersey City Medical Center!
Girl Scouts from Troop #10910 wanted to do a unique service project for Juliette Lowe's birthday. To celebrate, the girls created a gift basket for the first baby girl born at their local hospital on October 31st. Aside from creating the gift basket, each of the 12 Daisies also wrote a bit of advice for the baby and put it in a little toy baby bottle.
The Daisies completed the gift basket with new baby essentials like diapers, wipes, diaper cream, burp cloths, and other baby items. On October 29th, 5 of the Daisies hand-delivered the basket to the maternity ward, spoke with the nurses about their jobs, and even got a tour of the nursery!
Much to the Daisies' surprise, some of the nurses were also Girl Scouts! They joined us in singing "Make New Friends" before the girls left the hospital. They really enjoyed bonding with the nurses and learning more about what they do and how they help people.
Is your Troop doing something amazing? Do you know a Girl Scout who is making a change in her community? Fill out this easy form to submit your Good Deed!
